DESCRIPTION
Awapuni is primarily residential. Bounded by the Manawatu River, which spans over 180km in length, the area is popular for its access to shared walkways leading to the Victoria Esplanade. Homes are a broad range of age and style, catering for most, with local amenities completing the area. The suburb also features the Awapuni Racecourse, which held its first ever race meeting in Palmerston North on Boxing Day 1881.
